Quick Reference – How to import ESRI Shapefiles into Oracle Spatial

Launch Oracle Map Builder and connect to the database

The Data Selection section will populate with some default options.  Update as desired and click the Next button Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 9.37.37 AM
Select the associated Spatial Reference System for the shapefile and click the Ok button Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 9.38.03 AM
Confirm the Spatial Reference Information and select the desired Table Information options.  Click the Next button. Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 9.38.09 AM
Create a  predefined theme using an existing style if desired and click the Next button Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 9.38.17 AM
Confirm the data in the Summary report.  If correct click the Finish button to run the import.  A status window will display during the import Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 9.38.25 AM
Once loaded, expand the Show Data window and see the available Spatial Tables in the database.  Expand the Geometry Tables folder and locate the newly created table.  Right Click on the name of the table and select “Create/Update Spatial Index” Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 9.38.49 AM
Click the Build button to re-build the spatial index Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 9.39.05 AM
