Working with filters
Most Publisher reports have a default or a group of default filters defined. They display at the top of the report:
There are two types of filters, dates or lists. If there is a date filter then the report will always be restricted to the specified dates. In the group of filters above, the “Work Order Enter Date” is a date filter. If there is a list filter, like Crew, WO Maint Type or WO priority in the group of filters above, then without any values selected the report displays ALL results. It is only when particular values are selected that the filters go into affect. To limit the report to the 2nd & 3rd shift corrective work orders with a priority of One, the filters should be set as shown here:
Note: FAMIS was first implemented at UConn in 2006, so to include ALL data in a date filtered report, select a start date of 01/01/2006 and an end date of today’s date
Once you select the filters and clicked Refresh button, you should be able to see the data under the in the Report Data section. If there is No data available with the requested filters, it will simply display the Name of the report and list the Filters selected under the heading “No data found in the specified query”. For example, below there was a search for Work Orders with Priority = 1 during a particular week for the School of Fine Arts. There were no matching work orders.
If the priority filter is cleared, work orders with any priority are included in the result set:
Sometimes there is a report available that displays the required data fields but it is not using the desired filter criteria. It is possible to select from existing filters and potentially get the correct results.
To see a list of filters that will likely work with the report , click on List Valid Filters button. Then it will list out the valid filters. Under the Available Filters tab there will be Single filters and Grouped filters.
Since the report has a “Building” column, Publisher suggests that this filter might work. Highlight the “Building” filter and click the Use Selected Filter button. The default filters are then replace with the highlighted filter. Select the desired building and click the Refresh button.
Note: Sometimes Publisher lists a filter it recognizes as “Valid” but the report itself is not constructed in such a way that the filter and the results work together. If a filter is required that does not work please contact technical support to create the filter or report. If a filter and report combination are not compatible an Oracle error message will display instead of the results:
